You want to think of yourself as a “vape ninja.” When you vape discreetly, you’re creating much smaller clouds than that desktop or dab rig we just spoke of.

These considerably smaller vapor clouds typically don’t smell that much and are much less noticeable. Where you vape is just as important as your technique. You wouldn’t want to stealth vape in a grocery store, for example.

This is a surefire way to garner unwanted attention from those around you. And if you notice a “No Smoking” sign, your best bet would be to refrain from vaping.

The sign is there for a reason. What if you’re unsure of the rules at the establishment or home you’re at? Simply ask a member of the staff or household before you jump to any conclusions.

It’s preferable to play it safe than risk upsetting others or incurring a costly fine. As long as you’re empathetic to those around you and follow the rules and laws, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

How to Vape Discreetly?

Now we’ve come to the meat of the article where we will discuss the proper techniques necessary to pull off a successful stealth vape. It may take some practice to perfect your technique, but don’t get discouraged if you have any trouble.

You’ll get the hang of things and be stealth vaping with the best of them. Now, let’s take a look at the steps you want to follow to vape discreetly.

Use a Small Device

First and foremost, you want to use a device that isn’t so big that it’s obvious what you’re doing. Sure, this may sound obvious, but it still needs to be said.

For instance, you wouldn’t want to stealth vape with our Tera portable vaporizer. As outstanding as the Tera is, its size is simply too big to try to hide with your hands.

Sure, if you are on the bigger side of the spectrum, you might be able to pull this off. Still, your best bet is to go with a much smaller-sized portable vaporizer that will make it much easier to hide.

Hide Any Lights or LEDs

This won’t pertain to every unit out there, but it will pertain to most portable vaporizers. The majority of portable vaporizers and vape pens currently on the market feature some sort of notification LED or light.

It can mean a variety of things, depending on the unit. With some devices, it simply lets you know when the unit is powered on or off, or it can signify it’s charging.

With others, it might change colors to signify a higher or lower temperature, or even start to blink when it’s fully charged. And quite a few portable vapes have their LEDs illuminate during every inhale.

It all depends on the unit you’re using since every device can have different uses for these little lights. You want to cover that LED with some tape before heading out the door, or merely use one of your fingers to hide it.

Use the Lowest Heat Setting

Once again, this won’t apply to all portable vapes and dab pens out there, but it does apply to any unit that features variable temperature settings.

You don’t want to use the higher settings since that will only lead to bigger, more easily noticeable vape clouds. That’s the polar opposite of what we’re going for here.

If you’re a master of your vape, you may be able to get away with using a higher setting. But most people shouldn’t take that chance since it isn’t recommended.

What they recommend is to set your device to the lowest temperature it can reach. This ensures you will only take the smallest rips your device can offer.

Take Small Rips

Let’s continue where we left off in the last section and talk about how small rips can help your stealth vaping technique. You may be thinking, “My device doesn’t even feature any LEDs or lights, so the size of my rips won’t be an issue.”

As stealthy as a unit with no LEDs can be, that doesn’t mean you can rip bigger vapor clouds while still staying under the radar. You’ll more than likely get noticed sooner or later, so why would you even want to chance that?

Conversely, if you are patient and take short and small draws, you won’t be surrounded by a big ole cloud of vapor that says, “Hey everybody, look at me and what I’m doing!”

When you exhale, make a point to direct the vapor downward and away from your body. Once again, this is so you won’t be sitting in a cloud of vapor, as well as smelling like cannabis.

Don’t Look Suspicious

We’ll finish things off with something that always attracts unwanted attention, yet a lot of stealth vapers do it. It’s not intentional, but if you are constantly on the lookout, turning your head and looking everywhere with darting eyes, that looks extremely suspicious.

One of the primary instances someone will do this is when they are trying to hide something. Particularly over the last few years, with so many people on edge, it won’t take much for someone to speak up or call the authorities.

You should be conscious of your surroundings. Just ensure you’re nonchalant and act naturally. When done correctly, it shouldn’t garner any attention and will allow you to enjoy a nice stealth vape without issue.

Additional Tips to Vape Discreetly

Although we just went over the top techniques to vape discreetly, here are some other tips you may want to test out. We will talk about holding the vapor in for longer, exhaling through your nose, and how blowing it into your shirt can benefit your discreet vaping technique.

Hold the Vapor in For Longer

This is a trick smokers and vapers alike have been using forever to hide their smoking and vaping. Whether you’re barged in on unannounced, or in our case, you’re going for a stealth vape session, holding in your rip can be an optimal way to help conceal what you’re doing.

And despite what some may tell you, holding in your hit does not get you higher. The only reason to keep a hit in for more than a few seconds is to conceal what you’re doing.

Holding your hit in for longer enables it to condensate more in your lungs, resulting in less vapor being released.

Exhale Through Your Nose

Another tip you can try is to exhale through your nose to reduce the amount of vapor produced. Just as with your lungs, your sinus cavities help to condensate the vapor while forcing it downwards.

Both of these aspects lend themselves to much thinner and less visible vapor. This will probably feel weird at first if you’ve never blown smoke out your nose before. However, after a few exhales, you should get used to it and it will become second nature.

Blow Through Your Shirt

This won’t always be an option, but it can work wonders when done correctly. The last thing you want is for someone to see you shoving your mouth under your shirt.

This will look odd and may even garner that unwanted attention we’ve touched upon. If it is an option for you, your shirt will act as a filter and help to trap the vapor before it’s released into the air.

This technique, although super easy, can mean the difference between a successful vape session and an unsuccessful vape session where you upset those around you and earn yourself a fine.

What are Discreet Vapes?
